   Tom Deely followed his brothers to Lake County, in 1937 and started out in the sheep business as a Sheepherder working for Jerry Egan and then his brother Mike. Tom spoke a lot of Yamsay Mountain where they would trail their sheep for the Spring and Summer grazing. He enjoyed going into Silver lake and Paisley for the dances. Tom was drafted into the U.S. Army, in Oct 15, 1942, Tom's address on his draft papers was Plush Oregon. He went through boot camp at Fort Lewis Washington. While the other draftee's complained about the living conditions in boot camp, Tom was very happy, "Three meals a day and indoor plumbing was a luxury!" After being in Sheep Camps for 5 years he stated that he could shower every day, there was hot and cold running water, he was fed three times a day, a bathroom to use and a cot to sleep in with a roof over your head. Tom became the boxing champ of the boot camp. After boot camp he was sent to Fort Dix, New Jersey for further training. At Fort Dix, Tom received his Certificate of Naturalization, on October 7, 1943.
   Tom Landed at Omaha Beach Normandy on D-Day. During WWII, Tom was involved in the battle's of Central Europe, Rhineland, Ardennes ( Battle of the Buldge). Tom Served in Co. B 26th TANK BN. After the war Tom returned back to Lake County working with his brothers in the sheep and cattle business. Tom left Lake County in 1948 and went to San Francisco, where he married Christine Slattery, of Clouchjordan Tipperary, Ireland and raised 3 Boys and 2 Girls.
